Familys are always welcome at Drumshinnagh House and we endeavour to make the stay a truly wonderful experience.
With today’s fast paced living, most parents are working full time. Children have busy schedules too, between
school, homework and after school activities. In order for everyone to have a great holiday, it's important that you have got somewhere great to stay which has lots of things nearby for the whole family to do rain, hail or shine!
Westport House’s Pirate Adventure Park
Westport House’s Pirate Adventure Park is a treasure trove of family fun. With a plethora of fun packed thrill rides, and attractions – including Ireland’s first log flume ‘The Pirates’ Plunge’ and a Pirate Ship Galleon ‘Thrills ‘n chills’ ride - a magical train journey, indoor soft play area, pitch and putt, swan pedal boats, slippery Dip slide and beautiful gardens – not to mention hundreds of years of local history contained within the walls of Westport House with its spooky dungeons – there is something for everyone, young or old, to enjoy.
Mayo Leisure Point
Mayo Leisure Point in Castlebar offers visitors a wide range of leisure activities and is a mere ten minute drive away. You and all the family can enjoy: Ten Pin Bowling, Laser Q2000, Childrens Nokeys Adventureland, Snack Bar and much more. Mayo Leisure Point also includes Mayo Movie World (Mayo's only 7 Screen Cinema), Castle Leisure Club, Kachina Natural Spa and Hogs Heaven Bar & Restaurant.
Turlough Equistrian Centre
Ireland is known internationally for its equestrian tradition and love of horses. Wherever the visitor goes, there are opportunities to share in this love of riding, and indeed, in a country like Mayo, there are few better ways to explore than on horse or pony. To fully discover hidden trails, smooth beaches and uneven terrain, while taking full advantage of fresh air, the horse is your ideal method of transport. There are plenty of horses/ponies for hire so you can accompany a group on a pony trekking expedition and trot at a relaxed pace through Mayo's countryside.
Linenhall Arts Centre
The Linenhall Arts Centre has a comprehensive arts programme throughout the year. There is also a continual programme of theatre events for both children and adults throughout the year. In addition, there's regular music events.
Castlebar Swimming Pool
The Castlebar Swimming Pool is an indoor 25m four lane pool. Young and old are welcome to enjoy lessons or simply enjoy a bit of a splash. The swimming pool is equipped with an electonic hoist.
Castlebar Pitch & Putt
There is also a nine hole pitch and putt course in Castlebar where you can rent clubs.
